Scuderia Ferrari drivers Kimi Räikkönen and Giancarlo Fisichella were greeted
last night by a sea of Mubadala Ferrari caps, as fans descended on the Mubadala
Zone on the Abu Dhabi Corniche to meet their motor racing heroes.
“Mubadala has enjoyed a long partnership with Ferrari and we are delighted to
welcome the team here to Abu Dhabi,” said Sara Al Shorouqi, Senior Manager
Marketing Communications, Mubadala Development Company. “We’ve had hundreds of
fans come down to meet the drivers tonight - it’s clear the Scuderia Ferrari
team has great support in Abu Dhabi.”
The drivers autographed caps for the crowd and presented one lucky Scuderia
Ferrari fan with the grand prize of Mubadala’s ‘Wear the Cap’ promotion, a trip
for two to the 2010 Formula One Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. More than
20, 000 Mubadala Ferrari caps have been won by fans over the past two months as
part of the campaign in the lead up to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
“The challenge of the new track coupled with the fact that Ferrari has such
strong ties to Abu Dhabi makes this one of the most exciting grands prix of the
season,” said Scuderia Ferrari driver Kimi Räikkönen. “Abu Dhabi is a real home
away from home for the Ferrari team. From our long-term partners Mubadala to
exciting future developments like Ferrari World – the Ferrari presence is very
visible here and the support from the whole community is fantastic.”
Over 18, 000 Ferrari fans have visited the Mubadala Zone since 16 October to
learn more about the sport of motor racing and tackle the range of interactive
Ferrari-themed challenges, including F1 simulators, reaction tests and the Shell
Pit Stop Challenge.
The Mubadala Zone is part of the F1 Fanzone and the Yasalam programme of
activities. The Fanzone includes a host of F1 themed entertainment and
interactive experiences which will be on offer to the general public completely
free from the 16 October to 1 November.
