In the past, Hanhart stopwatches have always played a key part in leading motor
sports events. Timers held their leather clipboard in their left hand, and with
their right hand they operated the three Hanhart stopwatches mounted on the
brackets. They accurately recorded the lap times. Classic rally drivers like
Michael Münzenmaier from the town of Erdmannhausen in southern Germany rely on
Hanhart watches to this day. The winner of the Classic Masters in 2004 and 2005
has likewise depended on an entire range of Hanhart stopwatches for many years
in his exploits in his Jaguar XK 140 OTS, built in 1956: these include two
countdown watches, three split-second watches, two split-timer watches with a
flyback function and bezel with retrograde scale and the Tachymaster series 30,
40 and 50. “The appeal of these stopwatches lies in their reliability, accuracy
and unmistakable handling,” says the passionate rally driver. The verve with
which the graduate engineer and architect pursues his hobby is also reflected in
the classic Tachymaster, which Hanhart introduced in 2008 as a world-first:
Michael Münzenmaier is the “inventor” of the watch, which displays the distance
to be travelled and thus permits the stages to be timed much more easily.
